The Asia Pacific Microwave Conference was first convened in New Delhi in 1986 to foster a closer dialogue among engineers and researchers in the discipline, especially those in the region. It was subsequently held in Beijing and Tokyo in 1988 and 1990, respectively. Starting from the fourth one in Sydney in 1992, the conference was held annually in major cities in the Asia Pacific Region. In this connection, we are proud that we have successfully bid for the right to host the ninth APMC in Hong Kong in 1997 to mark our reunification with the motherland. It was a tremendous success as we have registered a record-breaking number of over 500 participants, including more than 400 overseas delegates from tens of countries in six continents. Today, we are equally proud to announce that the twentieth APMC will be held in Hong Kong in December 2008 in the prestigious Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Wanchai.
